People who have children

yet won't feed children who are hungry - ie the kids hungry friend comes over and food is refused - don't really love children that I can see - how is refusing to feed a hungry child when you have lots of food being a good example of a parent?

Nowadays it's the fear of food allergies or not respecting parental choices.
Kids will lie about what they can have and not have. Get to know the parent (s) and then you'll know what's allowed for their child.
It's no longer the good old days when few had serious allergies or asthma and kids could stay for a snack or meal at their friends place after school without asking. We never had to ask we just had to phone home to let someone know where we were.

You have no idea

I used to tell my kids they could only give their friends apple or popcorn if they came over after school. You have no idea how much food 3 boys will eat before you get home from work. I absolutely cannot afford to feed my kids friends. They literally will eat a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter , all the milk and a box of cereal in about 30 minutes. No way can I afford to add that to my grocery bill every day after school. My sons friends did that a few times & then I cut them off. Go home to eat. None of them were doing without--they all had cell phones etc. I am NOT the neighborhood fridge. You get one Apple & maybe some popcorn, otherwise beat it, you can eat at home.
That is reality.
