Yeah OP you're probably right, this is the new normal.
This whole "fake it 'til you make it" moron philosophy combined with a demise in honesty in order to attain the good life (anything for money/success types)...well, it's all going to shit innit?
We now educate kids to be conforming order-following robots so there's little time for the youth to develop critical thinking and social intelligence. Throw in the fact that there's very few jobs available to a greater number of degree-carrying folk these days...competition is fierce I'd bet.
All I can offer is always do your job to the best of your ability and let your results stand against the gossipers/backstabbers/sociopaths and other filth who may threaten your place in the rat race.

This seems to be normal. Perhaps because our society seems to reward charismatic extroverts who have mediocre skills?

The work environment is awful now. people are selfish and narissictic (spelling?) People only care about themselves and money. Sad but true. I work too many places where the stupid people rise like cream in cup of coffee.

People say Vancouver is nice. Not. People are here are lazy. They know nothing about teamwork.
