The motions of my heart

I've noticed a pattern in my romantic relationships: I will fall really fast and deep for a partner, then will gradually become bored/distant and eventually annoyed with this person over the course of a year or so. Also, I frequently develop an escapist crush on another person prior to the end of a relationship. I'm not proud of this behaviour, as I know it's disrespectful to the person I'm seeing. . Perhaps this pattern has something to do with not having met the right person, but I know it is connected to a deeper dissatisfaction with myself. I've poured a lot of energy into unrequited love over the years, so I may also be unconsciously comparing the reality of settled affection to the exhilaration of an unfinished chase. I'd love the shot at a loving, lasting partnership one day - but first I need to figure out how to break this cycle.

this could be me...except i run before i get bored...and or go for things that self destruct before they get to that point of me being bored.

whenever i start a relationship i'm equally terrified of getting bored as of them not wanting me.

Excellent self awareness. I hear you and admit that I can relate to feeling that way as well. There is a part of me that fears that someone who I believe is falling for me now might also be like this. Eeek! What goes around comes around I suppose. I hope we all uncover the roots of this pattern (bet there are shared experiences there as well) and heal the wounds that precipitated it.

Awareness is where it all starts. You can do it! I hope you figure out how to get a handle on this and find the love your heart craves. Good for you for learning from your mistakes and identifying potential causes for them. You're on the right track, keep moving down this path. Wish more people were like you. Good luck! :)
