Dear Boys

Ghostbusters got some awesome reviews yet everywhere I go I am still hearing women trying to convince their stubborn boyfriends to see this comedy. Dear boys, you say "it's not because it's an all female cast, it's because it's a remake" ..yet you love the Ninja Turtles franchise, Transformers, Batman, Spiderman, Superman etc... all remakes that have been done multiple times so excuse me if I'm finding it increasingly difficult to believe you when you say you refuse to see Ghostbusters solely for that reason. It's not a political statement, it's a comedy filled with witty funny women, so you can relax; your dicks aren't going to fall off dare you enjoy a female action comedy.

My issue is that they're not funny---these women aren't Bill Murray or Dan Akyroyd, they're not in the same league, it's a "Remake" in the sense that it would be a "remake" if a highschool theater class did ghostbusters. Everyone would clap "Great effort, team!" but it's not going to be as good as the original.

except that

none of the remakes you mention were any good. Also the ghost busters cast is pretty lame.

Dear Girls, just because a show/movie/production has an all women cast does not inherently mean it will be good.

That being said, it doesn't have to be a good movie to go out and still have a good time with your SO. Some guys are just jerks and just won't want to see it.

That new Baron Von Sketch show is awesome though. Best new comedy show in a while, period.

To quote plenty of women on here, "Get over yourself!"

Turtles aren't even humans, how could they be women? Transformers are robots, can they be women? There already is a batgirl and catwoman. Spiderman is a male character. Superman, same, but there's Supergirl and wonderwoman already also.

Go enjoy the new ghostbusters on your own. I don't want to see your dumb movie cuz it sucks. I'm not anti women if I think a movie sucks. Get over yourself.

Dear you.

Maybe, maybe not, maybe who cares? If the movie is so great then it is those stubborn boyfriends whom are truly missing out, yes?

Also- Nobody loves the ninja turtles movies, people never really enjoy transformers, batman sucked, superman sucked, and spiderman...please.

Stop generalizing- move on with your life.

What an obnoxious, condescending confession. I get that right now we're going through this "girl power" phase in movies. That's fine. I know that every female critic and media outlet is promoting the hell out of this movie and I'm fine with that. But don't talk down to men if we don't fall all over ourselves over every female driven comedy. I thought "The Heat" was good. I think "Broad City" is hilarious. But "Bridesmaids" was overrated, and Ghostbusters was done by the same people. Sooo, some of us aren't in a hurry to go and see it. That doesn't mean we are all insecure or sexist or whatever stupid insult you want to hurl at us. You don't like it when men condescend to you, so don't do it to us.

to your point...

there's no need to call it a "female" action comedy. it is an action comedy, period.

Boys to men.

When you get tired of boys try men.

I don't watch movies, I rock sheets.

BTW your generation lives in a box in a meme in another box with no windows. Try thinking it's still not illegal.

You are wrong

Star wars the force awakens looked awesome abdwas awesome. That had a female lead. Ghostbusters looks like crap, and I don't spend my money on crap I don't want to see or need etc. Simple as that!

I thought the way the movie was presented to people during pre-production as an anti-male movie, kind of led to the push back from men, not the other way around.

Go see it - the movie is easily as bad as the original. Stupid laughs, Melissa McCarthy is awful.

(To another poster - yeah like Ackroyd has such great acting chops, who would want to try to take on that role?)
