Was that really necessary?

This is for the dude making carvings or etchings in gastown in front of the Starbucks. I was not having a great day, and your work made me feel better. It was calming and beautiful. So I stopped and inarticulately told you it was amazing. You were vaguely cordial to my face. But, the moment I turned my back you said, to a group of expensively dressed young women, 'that's one of the fucking crazies that are down here.' They burst out laughing. You added a few more hilarious comments about how I'm also a 'crack junkie'. More belly laughs. Ok, so. Does it matter if I am mentally ill or addicted to street drugs or not? I'm actually sick with parkinsons and I take prescription drugs. You hurt my damn feeling and that was the last one I had left. :( Hope you really impressed them and they bought lots of your stuff.

He said that to feel better about his own life and maybe get a laugh from some tourists. Try not to dwell on it, hurtful though it was. Hope you feel better and take care of yourself. Bullies are losers.

Sorry

If you ever see him again, look closely and you will see a gigantic asshole etched onto his face because that is what this man is.

you feel the warmth and support your articulate rendition of an encounter with (see above) an asshat douchebag narcissist bully elicits from the rest of us. Don't let the bastards get you down, even the artistic ones.

Sending big hugs for you. Sorry that situation turned out to be nasty. Don't shy away from being the wonderful person that you are. He was lucky that you appreciated his art. Anyone would have been so lucky to receive a compliment. Hope today is a better day for you.

to going down there and giving him a piece of my mind. This really upsets me, my mum has Parkinson's. I can never understand how people can be so hurtful.

Ouch

Sorry you are not well and were treated without kindness and respect. How beautiful you took the time to compliment his art. Stay pure in your heart. We should never judge........you never truly know what another person is going through. It is his pain coming out at you, does not make it fair. Forgive..........

I'm sorry to say that since becoming a PR to Canada - my experience with people in Vancouver has been very similar. They say we are a non aggressive, peace loving sort of person - but in more cases than i care to mention, it's the sort of non aggressive that says horrible things about you when your back is turned.

Don't ever let them say we are better than the Americans... we might not want to bomb anyone, but that doesn't mean we aren't passive aggressive assholes.
