Be spontaneous

I try to chit chat with strangers when I sense that they are receptive. These friendly encounters make the city feel more like home to me. We can make Vancouver feel more like a community of we are a little friendlier. If the chance appears, try it! Spending a moment connecting with a stranger can mean a lot of both sides. :)

I'm totally down with that my friend. However, most people just get creeped out. Like the guy I started chatting with at Costco while he was shopping for underwear. He wished me "happy trails" and blitzed off. At least he wished me "happy trails"
Spontataenaity is dead

With everyone staring, blue faced, into their phones, spontaneous actions have been relegated to the past.
The funniest thing is how technology has done the opposite to humans than what was promised. Shows like "world of tomorrow", back in the day promised more free time, less stress, more freedom... All these things were false promises. Bosses can text you at 2 am, people are stressed out to the max, and freedom is dead. The NSA was caught collecting every word spoken over every cell phone call, every single text or email. Anything you do online is tracked, kept and is easily searchable at anytime by any government. Hell, any device that uses USB, send any keystroke, photo etc. Directly to the NSA,
Gang stalking, tracking devices, conspiracy and collusion and law enforcement setups are now an everyday tactic used by all governments.
Life is only going to get more financially tenuous, dull and secluded than it ever has. It's far too late to do anything about it in the global police state we currently live in. Culture is dying quickly.

As a guy, if I start talking to a guy he thinks I'm gay and want to drag him home.
If i start talking to a woman, she thinks the same thing and either ignores me straight off, interrupts me and takes off, or says she has a boyfriend.
Guess if I was taller and better looking it wouldn't happen like that as much.
So I don't do it any more, here anyways. In other cities and areas,yes...but not here.

Being taller isn't any better, then neither the man nor woman will be direct with you, they will simply be frightened.

I love to talk to strangers and see how people get through their existence. Unfortunately when I do that here, most people think I am out to scam them, so they run away. Sad City!!!
Keep trying!

Don't give up positive people! If you do, they win. I'm an older person and I strike up conversations all over the place. I talk to random strangers all the time. Some people ignore me and act like I'm invisible (one of the downsides of aging) and some people look at me strangely and carry on, but most people respond nicely. If you let a few negative responses affect you so that you stop trying, then I guess you didn't want it badly enough : ).

Yeah, it can be crummy when you are ignored. Don't stop, though. Eventually, most people will get it. Sad that our phones would replace human contact.
