bullshit. Being direct is one thing but if you are constantly criticizing everyone you better make damned sure you are 100% awesome yourself. Oh wait.. no one is 100% awesome. Also, it sounds like you hang out with jerks, so instead of trying to fix them maybe try not hanging out with jerks.

Me too! I don't win popularity contests because of it, but fuck it, at least I'm not a passive aggressive hypocrite and I can look myself in the mirror every day.

I just got here too. Sick of being walked on and lately I've spoken up in times where I wouldn't before and I feel like people are surprised when you do it. Some jerk tried to budge in front of this lady in a line up and I wasn't having it. Sure felt good!

If you are losing lots of friends your "directness" may be on the harsher side. If your words are too harsh people will get defensive instead of listening to what you have to say. Watch how you say it. You can be direct without burning bridges.
