Fb is bizarre and so am I

Fb is so weird. Does anyone else find it incredibly strange when people post deeply personal comments such as describing their health, relationship or personal problems in detail? If they are comfortable with acquaintances knowing their private lives that is up to them but when it pops up on my feed I can't help but wonder if they've thought it through. It confuses me because I know that these acquaintances would not tell me face to face about these things. I know they might need support so I think that is a good thing if they get it in anyway that helps but I do feel strange about whether to discourse or not. For example, a lot of people post about mental illness's or health problems they have and unless I comment on their post, they don't know that I know that. They can only assume that every single one of their fb "friends" may know about their deeply personal vulnerable posts. So then if I see them in real life I wonder if I should ask them about the thing they posted on fb? Or is that weird? Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. The other thing I find strange is knowing peoples very political views through articles and comments they post. I sometimes comment on them but words on a screen can't really convey the full meaning of my opinions or feelings and it feels like a limited and often misunderstood discourse. I miss talking to people in real life and philosophically shooting the shit. I'd rather do that so I think from now on when I read an article or see an opinion that creates a desire to talk I will keep it in mind and either bring it up with that person or bring it up with other people. p.s. confessions is different because it is anonymous and you would only converse with people that way and not i real life.

Ruining

Facebook is ruining society. It's 2016 and I can almost guarantee our generation has the worst ratio of psychotic, delusional, and paranoid people to ever inhabit the earth. I'm so happy I deleted that shit show!!!!!!

i think expecting facebook / social media to ever live up to the amazing things that face-to-face interactions can bring will continue to bring disappointment. as in - people need to stop expecting social media to ever replace face-to-face. did it ever really purport to?

i empathize with our collective confusion in how we integrate social media into our lives with other ways of interacting and building relationships... and at the same time feel its important to recognize the incredible role social media has played in connecting disabled people, especially Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and blind folks with others and with information in an otherwise wholely inacessible world. and even then the internet is still limited because it isnt 100% accessible for everyone.

My Take On Your Confession.

Good confession. I enjoyed it. Just one thought is that NOT all your friends see your stuff. In fact some people probably un-follow these people you are discussing. I am sure people even un-follow me as I post a lot of funny memes. That means you are still friends but you don't get updates about them. The other thing you discussed about privacy was good. I have a lady FB friend who is constantly breaking up with her boyfriend, saying she is going to quit drinking, etc etc. One time she posted "I am in trouble somebody phone me" I private messaged her and she said "Oh I am ok now". So that seems a bit odd like reach out to me. Oh no wait don't. She is young so maybe that is it. My rule is I only post funny and happy things. I do not put anything negative at all on the site. Negative things are for me to work out in my own life on my own time.

I post less and less there and have considered taking my photos down too. I don't talk personal stuff there any more, just a few scenery pics. Kin dof addicted though, I check it frequenlty over the day.

I have an adult child living in Europe and she post stuff about herself and family all the time. In fact I know more about her life that way than from phone calls.

I just spent this afternoon listening to a speaker talk about how companies mine all the data that is out there. The company he listed as supplying the most data on their "customers" was Fakebook. Everyone should be worried about their future!!!
