Feminist politics

I like feminism, but notice that the same 1950s male patriarchal power and rhetoric is used to promote the feminist agenda in the year 2016. Men can't speak their opinion or they're angrily chastozed by feminists... Sound familiar? I don't know how we accept this... I think I'm going to abandon feminist politics.

No. I don't notice that the same 1950's male patriarchal power and rhetoric is used to promote the feminist agenda.
I do notice, however, that a major facet of the post-feminist backlash is the victim complex that many men have developed. It is well known that men, particularly white men, see equality as oppression. Life is a zero-sum game which means that advancement for women comes at the cost of "taking away" power and prestige from men.
Men attacked women for speaking their opinions because they saw women as second-class citizens who were meant to be subordinate to men. Men are still free to express their opinions, but they are not free from criticism. If feminists detect sexist nonsense in a man' s remarks, then they are going to call them out. And they should. The idea that feminists criticize men because they hate men or see them as inferior is to believe in a gross caricature of feminists.
Also, the word is "chastised" not chastozed.

Don't wuss out

Feminism, as an aspect of fairness and just general acknowledgement of the reality that women got/get the shit end of the stick in many respects, is not going to go away nor should it.

Admittedly, as a dude there are times when I also ask myself "uh, what male privilege?" but a few overzealous, holier-than-thou types aren't gonna make me change my mind.

You have to listen to what people say but at the end of the day, they don't rule your mind.

Who Cares

People who bemoan these issues on this sight are just immature. The rest of us love our male and female friends and family and do not peg them into tiny boxes because they have differing genitals.

Poor men.

Poor, poor men. Jesus, my heart is bleeding for men!! No voice; just silenced. No power; completely at the mercy of women running all the shows. Having to think about their words and actions and how they may affect the opposite sex. Totally consumed by the evolving, violent hydra known as Women Who Want Equality. Oppressed, repressed, and now depressed. Goddamn it, I hope things end up well for men.

I do not agree each comment has varying perspectives. I think the gender division on this site is not real and shows a few people who are out of touch with reality. Its 2016 and we should work together, it seems though there is this ongoing fight to one up each other - being right. Made up words, offending ideas, general lack of awareness, I mean come on we have a lot of inequality and oppression, not just gender based, and we should be working in solidarity to overcome this. I think these topics distract from the common oppression we all face. At the very least talk about ideas and debate yes, but this site seems to promote the lowest end of that spectrum. That is why I say "who cares".
