Get a map! You call yourselves Canadians....!?

Why does everyone here think Toronto and Montreal are the East Coast? There is no coast involved in either of those cities nor are they even remotely close to any (plane rides, 10+ hour drives). Do you really not know that several provinces exist beyond Quebec?

You mean just like how 'Easterners' call Manitoba the west! Even though I have to drive for 2 days East to get there!

You are an east coaster in our books, regardless. Nobody cares what your map says, east coaster!

"Why does everyone here think Toronto and Montreal are the East Coast? "
JFC what a stupid generalization.
I'd bet $5k that if you asked 1000 people "here" if Toronto was on the East coast maybe 10 would say yes.

I think you'll find most people refer to Toronto and Montreal as 'back east' or 'out east'
I've never heard either referred to as the east coast

British Columbia belongs to Britain, so, Canada has only one coast, the East Coast on the Atlantic Ocean.

I feel the same way about people talking about us being in the "Pacific Northwest." We're not in Seattle.
We're in the Pacific Southwest.

is Western Canada and Toronto is Eastern Canada. People don't usually mean on the coastal waters.

Seriously, this is so difficult for you that you need to post about it? Okay so it's like this...,we here in BC AND Alberta AND Manitoba all get called the "west", even though the only province of those 3 that has an actual coastline is BC. We're used to it and I can't recall ever getting my knickers in a knot over it. What does get me all hissy though is how arrogant so many Torontonians are in general when it comes to this country. As if the Canadian borders match the Ontario ones. So get the hell over it and COPE with the fact that you're just not all as important as you'd like to think to those of us "westerners".

I'm from Toronto and say I'm from the east coast. So what? Ontario is pretty eastern compared to ALA the provinces west of it!!!
