Good Grief

I haven't been celebrating Christmas for years but now my parents are shoving it down my throat because they are bored and wand something to do. It's turned into a source of conflict between us and I feel terrible already.

I expect they have different motivations than being bored. That's might be what you think, but what do they think? Maybe it's a chance to reconnect with how magical it was when you were their sweet little baby.

What do you have to do when they " shove it down your throat" ? Show up for dinner? Say something nice about their Christmas tree? Maybe bring a gift or two? Your parents won't be around forever, surely you can spend a day with them.

What you could do to make it more exciting and to offset the boredom is have a smurf themed Christmas - tell your parents you have become obsessed with smurfs and want to have a smurf themed Christmas - a tree with all blue ornaments, you could all wear blue with white hats and have blue stockings. Your parents may think you're nuts but you can have some fun :)
