Someone posted such bad slander about me on the Dirty that I had to change my name in order to get jobs. I hope that person realises how much of a negative impact it has had on my mental health and how childish it was. I tried to kill myself because of it.

I'm really sorry. That sucks and they are trash for trying to do that sort of childish thing. But forward and onward my friend, even if it is tough! If you need help with your mental health, I urge you to see a doctor or therapist/psychiatrist. Stay strong!!

Or they can have an obsessive mental disorder and get such a hate-on for someone, that they will spend YEARS trying to damage their lives !
Sometimes, all it takes to become their target is to reject their flirtation!
I dated someone for 3 months in late 1988, haven't spoken to them since 1990, and I'm STILL being slandered and vilified by them 26 years later!!!
For dumping them!

Be thankful if you've never encountered anyone like that. They won't or CAN'T let go .

Employers in your line of work use the anonymous slanders of "The Dirty" as a vetting tool?

Sweet-faced teenage girls kill themselves because of it. We've all seen the headlines. The other victims, with tougher skins, still have their lives warped and damaged by it.

I hope this malicious bullshit becomes an outright criminal offense . It's a crime of hate.

I'm not going to explain how internet searches work in detail but the problem would stem from the post on the dirty coming up as one of the first results when their name is searched in google.

I dealt with almost the exact same thing. Lies that ended up being published by news outlets... It ruined me. I live with it and have to face it every single day. I am so, so sorry you're going through this. Know that it's happened to others. My heart goes out to you.

It happened to me as well. I never addressed/ corrected the story because no one believed me before when I told them what really happened, which was traumatic and disturbing. It's in the past and I choose to move on with my life.

Whatever. If people believe whatever they hear without finding out facts, they're idiots anyway and will not enrich your life.
