Stop the protests

Stop attending and marching in the various gatherings that happen outside of the Trump Hotel on Georgia St.... Unless your eligible to cast a U.S vote, a foreigner is not going to change, effect, or impact American policy. Your simply creating another obstacle for your fellow Vancouverites who live near by.

If we accept your sad conception of democracy and civic engagement, then Americans, who can't vote again for 4 years, shouldn't protest Trump either.

Why shouldn't we show solidarity with all the marginalized people that are threatened by a Trump administration? Why should we not protest and denounce the name of a bigot in giant gold letters in the middle of our city? Why shouldn't people feel shame at patronizing the Vancouver Trump hotel?

Protests the Stop

Keep attending and marching in the various gatherings that happen outside of the Trump Hotel on Georgia...
How did British Columbians save the Clayoquot sound? Protesting. How did women draw attention to work towards getting the vote? Protesting. How was Dakota Access Pipeline delayed and possibly re-routed? Protesting. The list goes on and on. Protesting draws media attention surrounding an issue, creates camaraderie, inspires further action and informs politicians of the will of the people. Gathering in Vancouver at Trump Hotel sends a message to Trump. Canadians don't support you. It sends a message to our Neighbours that we support them when they march. Even though critics call protesting impotent, it is one of the most powerful ways a group of people can cause change. The obstacle is thinking that we can't change anything.

yup.

The only thing those people are achieving is a nice traffic jam....

I'll stop protesting when you learn how to properly use

Jan 19, 2017 at 4:24pm

and spell 'you're' correctly.
*You're is a contraction of you are. It has no other uses. This is a 100% rule. If you cannot expand it to you are in your sentence, then it is wrong.
And to continue the grammar lesson: ;)
Your is a possessive pronoun and should be followed by a noun:
‘Your car, your phone…’
One common mistake is to say, ‘Your simply creating'
It should, of course, be, 'You're simply creating'

it's all about feelings

People have a right to peacefully protest what they think Trump is about, whether they are correct or not from your perspective or if it has any meaningful impact. Trump creates anxiety and people want the consolation of like minded thinkers. Better out than in I say.

Super duper

It's true. They're annoying.

Just submit to Trump already!

We luckily live in a country where we can protest without worrying about potential dire consequences. Often it requires the voice of the masses, and many to elicit change. Better to live in a world where you can raise a dissenting voice to injustices for positive change than an apathetic or oppressive one which is a reality ( can be here with important issues, apathy) for many other countries.

I think that people should put energy into protesting and supporting issues in our country that we have control over. People watch to much American TV and get too invested in American issues while ignoring what is actually going on in their own back yard. If this protest was about a local issue rather than an American one, some people wouldn't be so annoyed by it. We're Canadians not Americans.
