My life is hopeless

I have a good education (college and university), a high IQ (between 150-160) and I am a hard-working person (raised on a farm and worked as a labourer for most of my 20s). I have had numerous jobs throughout my life, and my current job is steady work... However, I can't seem to handle money. I don't make much to begin with, and I'm just not organized, I guess... I'm constantly asking my parents for money to help make ends meet. I have 'borrowed' tens of thousands of dollars from them over the years, and though I intended to pay them back, I now realize that this will never happen. Moreover, they don't have a lot of money themselves and are on the verge of retirement. They stopped lecturing me long ago because they realize I am hopeless, and they know that if they don't give me more money I will end up on the street. The only solution is suicide. I should have killed myself ages ago, before I accumulated this debt, but with every passing day it gets worse. I know it will be hard for them if I die--for one thing, they will have to shell out even more money for my funeral--but it seems the only thing I can do. Every day the thought is at the back of my mind. Will today be the day? What if I get a better job, make more money? I'm not young anymore, I can't live with this false hope anymore.

And How

Yep. An IQ that high is a serious handicap, unless you want to demean yourself and work for The Man after writing a lot of tests in University, which you'll have to pay for the privilege of writing.

Our social setup is designed to enable people in the 85-115 IQ range to have happy lives. Everyone else is to either serve the 85-115 set, or go suck eggs.

Steven Hawkins and Einstein have IQ's of 160. Anyone with an IQ in the 1 percentile is intelligent enough not to flaunt there IQ because they know that people will not take them seriously

Ever hear of Einstein running around throwing is IQ number out there. This has made your post look so cheap and just ridiculous. Even if its true no one will believe you are be able to confirm. Just stop.

You need to get help from a Counselor or a professional of some kind. There are a lot of resources available. Even if you go to a hospital and tell them you want to kill yourself they will help you. I think you just need some help. Suicide is not the answer.

Please don't give up

Please, don't give up. Learning to budget, getting a better career, helping your family and yourself can still happen. I know what it's like to feel like a burden...... I struggle with depression, ptsd, OCD, and a number of painful chronic invisible issues. From the outside, no one knows or can tell, but everyday is a struggle. Please call a crisis line, seek out a counselor, and get the help you deserve to help give you the coping strategies and support you need. Take it one day, one min, one breath at a time. Good luck, and please reach out for help, you can do it!

Is to stop whining and start living within your means. Suicide? Seriously? Kids these days...

Just write down where your money goes. Do not eat out, cook cheaply at home. Car payment? Sell it and buy an older one or take transit. Going out drinking and whatnot with friends? Cut down on it. Too much on housing? Get a roommate, etc. Small changes add up fast. U have to make more than you spend, that simple. Work on getting a better pay in job, do a part time gig to get out of debt or start savings. Stsrt an RRSP for sure..

When you don't see them flying in the sky doing their fancy light shows to make the world marvel and wonder........ they're standing right beside you, speaking in your mind, using your own voice, and they say" "I am hopeless".

BOO HOO!!!

I'm a highschool dropout, couldn't even get a job in retail - that disqualified. So I Worked as a lowly cleaner, scraped bottom getting by, kept my head high(smoking tons of weed), Made some connections within my musician friends, decided to fund our band project via doing contract cleaning jobs, borrowed some funds to start our own cleaning business. Next thing you know it takes off to the point we had no time for fun, music & art, business was getting very busy! Studied some methods for focus & positive thinking for getting ahead & achieving goals(Napolean Hill's Think & Grow Rich, Kybalion - Hermetic philosophy, Dr. Yang Jwing Ming's Understanding Qi Gong, David Cameron Gikandi's A Happy Pocket Full Of Money, Etc). Fast forward a 5 years later - We offer services that is in demand, pay loyal employees, generate revenue, paid back our loans & we have time for music & art! I guess my point is I was far less than you but the difference is I had a focus & positive mental attitude as to where & what I really wanted in life that was true to my soul. I'll link up some of the pdfs that I've mentioned which help me big time to get through what you described as an obstacle in your mission. I'm not going to tell you to not end it, like you say you think you are, rather I'm going to say to begin it. Though I have to let you know, THE LIPS OF WISDOM ARE CLOSED, EXCEPT TO THE EARS OF UNDERSTANDING. Good luck on your ongoing journey. http://eventualmillionaire.com/Resources/ThinkandGrowRichebook.pdf

Write out every penny you spend. Even if you buy gum. I had 3 children to teach about this, and that was the only thing I could think of. You will know exactly where every penny goes. Then you can control that part. Remember, Control your money, don't let your money control you. I lend my children money when times are tough, but they've paid me back - not all at once, but a few hundred at a time. You can too. Change your attitude - Change your life. Good luck. Sounds like you're smart enough to do this.

There are so many other options than suicide. Get counselling. Change your life in other ways, not just the money bit. Try everything that you can to shake yourself out of your rut. You could make a radical shift - quit your job and volunteer in a poor country where you will be forced out of life as you know it and the lifestyle that encourages your money problems. Join WWOOF and go work in the dirt with a bunch of back to the landers. I mean, if you are contemplating suicide, what have you got to lose by trying anything, really? It's a big world there are so many ways to reinvent yourself. Good luck.
