Why?

Why are people always protesting at the Trump Hotel all the time? Do people not know that Fairmont Hotels is partly owned by Kingdom Holdings and a member of the Saudi royal family. The Saudi government/royal family has a deplorable human rights record in regards to woman, the LBGT community, press freedoms ect.... I have never seen a protest outside on any of those locations but the Trump Tower seems to be getting lots of attention.

Because your average idiot on the street has virtually zero critical thinking skills

Same people who elected Trudeau...

Missing the point.

AccorHotels

That's who currently owns Fairmont, along with the Kingdom holdings. FHRI (Fairmont, Raffles, Swissotel) was purchased by Accor in December 2015. AccorHotels is a French multinational, with its headquarters in Paris. The one in France.

The point remains

People never protest the really aggregious. Self hating is easier and safer.

Wait

So people shouldn't protest a symbol of one racist/mysoginist/bigotted/ all round unpleasant guy because there's worse out there? Yeah that makes total sense. Lacking critical thinking my ass...

Leave it to the right wing to make idiotic statements then pat themselves on the back.

Not to mention, the royal family of Saudi Arabia's domestic policies do not have an even remotely comparable effect on the world stage as do those of Trump.

From climate change and human rights to the very fabric of NATO and EVEN the ability to shape Saudi policy, the US holds a wide range of powers that can make or break the world, so in the scheme of things pressure on the mad man running the free world is far more pertinent to the future of the world.

Pressure in small, accumulating, doses has in the past proven to be a powerful tool to end injustices. Kudos to the protesters. I hope you lot are there when Trump's sons visit Vancouver in the upcoming month for the opening of the Trump tower.

Your concerns about Saudi ownership of the Fairmont hotel would sound a lot more genuine if you didn't raise it only to try to discredit another protest movement. This is like when people only feign concern for the homeless and the poor in order to push their xenophobic anti-refugee positions.

We can be concerned about and protest more than one issue at the same time. Why don't you organize a protest of the Fairmont instead of trying to discourage a protest of an unrelated hotel?

You may have noticed

that the name "Trump" figures prominently in the name of the building and is displayed in big shiny letters on the front, creating an easy association with Donald Trump. In contrast, The Fairmont is not called "The Saudi", and no one expects much of Islamic Republics when it comes to human rights anyhow.

Because they're all controlled by mass media. Just because they have punk-rock haircuts and ripped clothes doesn't mean they're not as mainstream as any middle aged person who eats a steady diet of FOX News. They just subscribe to a different mainstream media narrative, but still mainstream. They're robots, incapable of thinking for themselves, but they think that because they're following an MSM narrative that says they're the ones who care, that they must care! Nope. Drones!
