It used to bother me that my longtime partner seemed to lose interest in me that way. I've now accepted the fact that we're just really good friends who happen to live together.

You probably stopped maintaining your physical fitness and no longer have the sex appeal that you use to.

Talk about this with them. Figure out what isn't working for them or why they have pulled back and do things to rekindle the passion. It can be done, you just both have to be willing to put in the effort to do it.

The people that think that the initial excitement and passion should be around forever are a bit delusional. I agree it would be great, but no matter how physically appealing you may be, it's the familiarity that creates the boredom. Great sex is completely possible even in long term relationships, but usually both people have to be willing to work to spice things up. Don't be afraid to discuss it! It's allowing yourself to get into a rut that is the beginning of the end. Keep trying.
