Fuck strata living

I'd much rather live in a older single rancher than share thin walls with assholes that go on power trips and expect you to be as miserable as they are.

Are you annoyed you can't blast Black Sabbath all hours of the night and day? You can still have annoying neighbours in a detached house...even more so when it comes to property line disputes.

I wish...

I wish the person posting was the sh-- that lives downstairs from me... at least it would give me a hope in hell that she will actually move away! I'm an original owner in my strata, and had many nice nieghbours downstairs, but my enjoyment has long-since been kiboshed ever since she moved in, bringing yappy dogs along, too, just to make my life a daily living hell. PLEASE, MOVE!!! Go find yourself an older single rancher, and go far far FAR away from me!

Ugh!

The Strata council, the original internet moderator. A small person finding position and power where ever they can find it.

I have lived in a condo, and I have lived in some beautiful houses. A few years back, I purchased a manufactured home in a park, and I am so content. People who call us trailer trash? Uneducated. Music? No problem. 420? Who cares. Pets? Absolutely. I will be loving this style of living for many years to come. I have to go now and water my vegetable garden.

LOL, I know one guy who lives in a Strata who plays his stereo so I can hear it down the hall---every now and again his neighbors call the police, but apparently laws against loud punk rock are "archaic" ;)

Fair Warning

My neighbours knew I was going to be noisy BEFORE they moved in.

My father-in-law and his wife installed a washing machine in their kitchen in their strata building and some neighbours (who they thought were their friends) caught wind of it and asked to come and look at it. They ooohed and aahhhed and then ratted them out and they had to take it out. They'd made sure they covered all the bases. They live on the bottom floor so a leak would only affect them etc. Some people are just power hungry dick bags. Who the fuck cares about a laundry machine? An idiot, that's who.

I'm surprised that so few people understand the reasons behind the bylaws in stratas, and that so many still believe that the strata councils are all made up of people who just want control. Those people work their asses off on behalf of the other owners and are elected to make the necessary decisions for the strata corporation. Some of them are jerks just like any other segments of the general population, but in my experience most of them are just people who are interested in helping to take care of their investment. Being on the council can be a thankless job and often they are subjected to abuse by some ignorant owners. As for the rules about installing things or altering the units, etc., some of them relate to insurance or mechanical issues that anyone could learn about if they cared to do so.

Yes!

I'm dying for the day I can sell this, leave the strata drama behind, and happily live my days out in a trailer. I should have known there would be issues when no kids and no dogs were allowed, right from the start, but pickings were slim. Who doesn't like kids or dogs? The kind of people who suggest that there be clauses added for you to sue each other, pass huge levy fees with little to no notice leading to legal consequences for the seniors in the building, police the garages, and complain about visiting service dogs, that's who. Saddest thing I've seen.
