Yet Another Dead Rock Star

If I was able to make a living from playing music for people, you would NEVER see me killing myself by drugs or suicide, I would be the happiest person you have ever seen.

You don't know that.
Once you hit a certain level of fame, you simply can't even go to a bar, at least, not with normal people. Except for a few "workhorses," it seems to me pretty common among big-name performers to think that, in retrospect, they would have been happier staying in the crowd instead of on-stage. Jerry Garcia, for example, was not a happy camper, nor was Kurt Cobain, nor was Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, etc. Sure, they could pretend to be happy, but they obviously, from the drug/drink abuse, were not. And then, especially in the case of guys like Garcia, when you have dozens of people depending on your touring to make a living, and thousands who depend on your touring for some sort of emotional security in this foul post-atomic world, blech.

Better to stay in the crowd =]

Then you would turn 50, discover that your good years were gone, and looking forward to nothing better than turning 60 you would be fed up also.

If I could make a living at music

I might not kill myself. Alas, Vancouver is a black vacuous hole that will crush your soul if you dream of rock 'n' roll.

seem to think that due to fame and success people don't have mental issues. Depression happens regardless of your circumstances. The sooner people realize this, the sooner we can each reach out to one another to try and help, instead of making righteous comments once they're dead.

Not talking about fame, I'm talking about being a professional musician. (not possible in this town)

Even if you were making a living playing music, you'd still need a thick skin to insulate yourself from the moral ugliness behind the scenes.
Someone tried to blackmail me and it sure made me question my faith in humanity.

Don't talk about what you would never do having never experienced it. What you perceive to be and what actually would be are two different things. Chris Cornell is not just "another", no human being is just "another".
