Fuck it

I'm a single guy in my early 30s and dated a few women here and there. Still haven't found that spark yet and been living in self doubt because it seems everyone around me has found their significant other except me. After living in fear of being alone for the rest of my life, I say...fuck it. I'm tired of this fear of being alone so what I am going to do is leave it to fate and just let the cards fall where they may. I believe that things happen for a reason so I just say fuck it.

I'm also single and in my early 30s, but was in a long-term relationship that was headed for marriage. Friends and family thought we were the perfect couple - because that's what it looked like on the outside. On the inside, there was fighting, betrayal, disrespect, and isolation. It was horrible, but I kept up the charade of happiness because I desperately wanted to be.

I'm still lonely at times, but much happier now that I'm free of that relationship. I guess what I'm trying to tell you is that not everyone is as happy as they seem in their relationship. People don't talk about the petty fighting, about betrayal, the hard work they put into it, or about the compromises they make in order to keep someone around. Sure, there are plenty of happy people in terrific relationships. I know some of those people, and it's great to see them in such a wonderful place in their lives. But I'm also starting to see some of those "perfect" relationships breaking apart for various reasons, and can spot a few I know won't last. I'm willing to bet some of your friends envy you as much as you envy them.

I stayed in a toxic relationship for a long time, and I can say that it's much better here on the outside. I'm going to be honest with you: you may never find someone you're compatible enough to be with long-term. It's not a guarantee. But you're with yourself forever, and that's the relationship you should be nurturing before all others (not to the point of selfishness, of course). Because it's not always better when you're with someone else. And who knows - you may meet someone in the next five minutes. You just never know.
