I'm all for protecting Canadian business but not when they are ripping us all off like they are.

All the protectionism we have to support our telecom oligarchs should be done away with. I want a U.S. cell phone provider, cable company, whatever!

I don't understand the sentiment - one that I've heard elsewhere.
Check the approval ratings of the US Telecom industry - they're at the very bottom in user satisfaction surveys.
Comcast: worst. Verizon: terrible. AT&T: dreadful.
Maybe T-Mobile is okay though with lesser coverage areas. But we have Wind / Freedumb Mobile as an equivalent.
In fact, Wind might be best of the bunch if you don't want to get ripped off AND live predominantly within their coverage area.
