Knapsack wearers on transit

be warned! I've tried to politely ask you to remove your knapsack to make more room for passengers. You usually respond with a dirty look. I'm gonna stop being polite.

Another impolite human in vancouver... You don't say.

A real man would take the high road and rise above such trivial matters, not step into the gutter.

I call knapsack wearers on Buses & trains, ''Transit Turtles''.

Sometimes need more space

If the floor is dirty and the bag is heavy, it is reasonable to keep it on. Transit needs to meet basic needs of users to be viable!

If you ever need backup, let me know.

Just take the high road, dear.

If you take the low road, you'll be on the same one as them and you'll have given up your position of moral superiority. You won't be able to complain about them being the rude ones anymore.

Are you

The same person who complains about cyclists on sidewalks?

It baffles me how translink doesn't make this mandatory. There are countries where you can get fined for not taking off your backpack. Seems reasonable.

There are also countries where you can't sing certain songs, can't wear certain costumes, etc.

We have a "Free Society" here in Canada.

The law should never be used as an instrument to ensure politeness/decency---people should be that way voluntarily, and if not, the law won't save them.

I get quite decent compliance by "talking loudly" at bus riders who refuse to move. Only a small minority of them do the "no English" routine when I focus and say "yes, move to the back means you too!"

Suck it up

If you're standing on the bus, your back pack has to be on your back, and not sitting in the isle where it becomes more of a safety hazard.

I don't get the reason for wearing an Everest expedition knapsack to commute to work or school....how much crap do you need to carry?!
