The Ridewalk

Ok, I'm trying to come up with a rational reason why everyone thinks that it's ok that they personally should be riding their bike on the sidewalk. Fear of cars is the only thing that I can think of, in which case, maybe it's time to re-think your transit decisions. That, or just either utter hubris or stupidity. Which is it?

No need to waste your breath. No rules apply. The ones who live here are completely aware of that. It's the tourists whom I feel sorry for.

If I had a bike

I'd ride on the sidewalk for exactly that reason, drivers in this city are crayzayyy and not to sit beside someone who smells awful on the bus.

Are you

Sure you're just not on the bike path? Geesh, pedestrians.

But seriously. I get that we all probably come across a cyclist or two on the sidewalk each day but is it enough that it seriously upsets you? Look around you, there are far worse things happening on our city streets--like homelessness, poverty, addiction, supposedly dog owners walking their dogs off leash. That last one was sarcasm. I'm tired of your dumb rants. Give me a juicy confession.

Byeeeeee.

I agree

But in a city where bikes and busses share the same lane its a little more understandable. By the way, whoever came up with that idea should get a stupidity award.

That's a bit of a stretch.

I'm a motorist, pedestrian and cyclist.

To say "everyone is utter bullshit.

I'm out a lot and I rarely see it.

Shrug

I've noticed that the worst offenders are the types that think their riding on the sidewalk is an act of grace compared to the rest of their day.

Gotta love watching people cycle with a loaded shot in their mouth as they barrel down the sidewalk.

This city isn't interested in punishing bad behavior at any level.

Also a motorist, pedestrian and cyclist. I rarely see cyclists riding on the sidewalk as well.

I left my condo and rode on the sidewalk because, well, the sidewalk connects to the street. I came face to face with an older man who looked like he wanted to kill me. I somehow unhinged him by the look on his face. I then realized that it's his problem. How else am I supposed to leave my condo entrance with my bike? Get heli-lifted out??

We live in a crowded city with buses, cars, dogs, strollers, pedestrians, cyclists, wheelchairs, cars, etc. "I came face to face with a cyclist" shouldn't be an affront to your dignity.

I bike on the sidewalk

Because I'm so out of shape that I'm hazard to the other bikes and cars on the road. I should have a "caution slow moving vehicle" sign...

Hey

I could say the same thing about you pedestrians always being on the wrong path when it comes to the seaside route.
