Sticky Fingers

My best friend has recently taken up shoplifting at age 25. She seems to be proud of herself. I get it, these big corporations overcharge and underpay their workers, some of them children ( sick, terrible ) but seriously girl, that's not a valid justification. Are you having an existential crisis? We're not 13 anymore. I'm a little concerned.

I'm sure you have done nothing wrong. So what? It's her life, her consequences not yours. Stop being so judgemental.

The problem with shoplifting is that feeling that you can have anything you like for free. It's addicting.

But then you eventually get caught and discover a world of pain.

if you're a good friend, tell her
Tell her of the potential consequences down the line.

It's the live and let live mentality that bites back in the end.
You know, the "But nobody told me I was in the wrong. What kind of friend(s) were you to let me do it?!"

Getting caught will ruin her life, be real with her. Ask her if she ever wants to go to the states again? With a criminal record, she may not be able to visit some countries. Big, big mistake at her age. Kids can get away with it, as minors. Adults can't.

I don't need to tell her it's wrong! She's a logical and intelligent grown woman , who knows it's wrong! That's not why she's doing it obviously! I appreciate your suggestions, but this is a confessions column. I wanted to get my own frustrations about knowing of this off my chest. She's well aware of he consequences, I cannot change her mind, I'm just worried for this self-destructive behaviour she's displaying. That's all.
