A different kind of thank you

I was once open to anyone of all shapes, colours, orientation, etc. Then came the real world, and I had a gay co-worker bullied me so much at work that I left. I started hating gay people and secretly prayed for his come-uppance. Then at my new workplace, this guy befriended me. And he's a really nice guy at heart. I just hope he doesn't turn out so vicious and vindictive like the other person did. So ___ thank you for being you. I still cling to hope, and there's a reason to still think the best in most people. Just getting it out there.
