It wasn't the helmet that made you glance back
I saw you in the Pacific Centre as you were passing by the Apple store. You obviously noticed me too as we both turned our heads after we passed each other. You were strutting in...

I have been reading a variety of the comments posted in the GS and I am starting to wonder what Vancouverites would define as a "real" person. I have read some pretty harsh judgments on Kits people, Granola people, hipsters, Surrey people, hiking people, certain Vancouver reality TV people who apparently have the life, people who wear makeup, people who don't wear makeup, yoga pant wearing people, messy hair people, men with beards, people with broken hearts, people who recognize they kind of suck but are giving it a shot to make things better, people who ride bikes....I could go on - is anyone likeable here? What is the definition of living an appreciative life here? I am beginning to get confused over this.......

lol luv ur confession
we maayy like someone if they seem unhappy and either less successful than us or doing something worse than us. As for you, well, you clearly can research and articulate a thoughtful question, alll of which makes you wholly unlikeable ... however, the fact that you are confused may bring you up a notch to "tolerable"

.......I do
And I completely agree with your post as I have often wondered the same. I love everyone. But I honestly don't know what any of the haters could or would love back.

makeup yoga pant hipster wearing messy haired girl
I'm just sayin' these posts and comments are mostly from the confession section which i think gives hope for some people(people who recognize they suck). As well as let people have the freedom of speech anyomously,in some cases feel the need to get whatever they have on their mind off their chest. Human beings have millions of thoughts per second...or just a lot..so when people say one thing it can mean another or turn into something else. i wouldn't go by what people say here or take it to the grave...or get confused by it. Everyone is likeable here some people are just trying to screw their heads on straight and come here to figure it out or reach out

It's all about the cliques. There can be crossover, but it is required that you know which cliques are okay to mix with your own.

I don't mean to sound cliche or down on Vancouverites (i am one, born and raised 45yo). But these confessions are largely a sad and accurate portrayal of what many of the citizens of this city are like - shallow, clique obsessed, small minded, unsophisticated, boorish and immature... and just happen to live in paradise.

Last Call
Welllll, you commentators are all true Vancouverites in your own individual styles......

LoL, thank you for keeping me in the "tolerable" ranks - I will remain confused.
I Do....shucks this person loves everyone - such a warm and fuzzy Vancouverite
Yoga Pants - "so when people say one thing it can mean another or turn into something else".....you are a Vancouverite in so many, or should I say, millions of ways....or just a lot
Natty - you are a Vancouverite for being in a clique and micro-managing them well - I never made it into one - which could or could not make you tolerable
Asian Person - you are a Vancouverite for having the guts to throw in the race card. A touchy underground subject lightly brought to the surface
Uknow - you are a Vancouverite for being the true fence sitter - not always, but sometimes
Dude - I think you may be the dude who was checking himself out in the window whilst I ate my burrito on Robson last weekend. You are a Vancouverite for simply loving yourself
And the winner goes to Bud who is a true Vancouverite for recognizing beyond all of this social confusion - we do live in paradise and THAT is something not to be overlooked.

P.S. Lol, you gave me a chuckle.....

Bub, you got "it"

Last call, maybe change every Vancouverite in your "style" to human beings. Then that might make you tolerable.

Diversity
I think that the comments of people having a opposing oppinions on same/similiar topic just shows that the GS attracts people from all walks of life. To Agree or to Disagree is a matter of opinion.

Does this mean there is hope for Vancouver after all???
Or will the passive-aggressives just whine and complain on the internet while the active-aggressives go out and stir up another riot destroying the downtown core? (Just my observation, please don't be angry with me)
