I am dating a receptionist who works at the local Fire Department. I'm not usually an insecure guy and she seams pretty great. However, I hear all the time from her and others, what pigs these guys are (not all of them) and how they cheat all the time. I also know she had a pretty close platonic friendship with one of them. Am I just paranoid or am I setting myself up to be cheated on?

No such thing as a 'close, platonic' relationship. One goes for the other, eventually. And yes, you're setting yourself up. As much as you think, 'nah,' it won't happen with her, it will. Someday.

Fire fighters, pigs, soliders... anybody who does a 'so called' dangerous job is operating at a different frequency. Their of perception of death is greater and any man who could be inhaling his last breath in the blink of an eye wants to live life to the fullest. If your girlfriend has a history of cheating or could be labeled a slut then I'd be concerned.

Live in the now. If she is great now and you like her then go with it. If she cheats, she cheats. You can only protect yourself so much and worrying about what might happen versus what is currently happening is what you should be focused on. If something down the road does happen, you may feel a little burn but then life moves on and on and on. If the red flags are screaming so loud that you are festering then maybe you should go with those instincts and move on because otherwise you may be selling the present short.

If she told you they were 'pigs', then it doesn't sound as if she likes or respects them; it sounds more as if they've been hitting on her and she's been disgusted by it. To me, that doesn't sound like a woman who's interested in cheating with them.
And if she had something to hide about the platonic friendship, she wouldn't have told you about it.
I agree 100% with The Invisible Woman - you can't know what will happen. She thinks they're pigs - as a woman, I'd say that means there's little chance she'll be hitting the hay with any of them....

If she works for the Socialist Apparatus, ditch her.
She's an immoral cocksucker taking wages stolen from the commons by forced taxation. Fire Fighters financed by taxes are a sign of nothing more than de facto nationalization of all homes/burnable resources---it's like the city is a military base with its own Fire Officers!
