I confess that when I indulge and make the decsion to eat out at any restaurant I NEVER ever tip. Not single a dollar or a bloody dime, regardless of the quality of food, quality of staff or the ambiance of the establishment. Why the hell should I, the serves have no idea that I have no intention whatsoever of leaving a tip for them, while I am politely and kindly placing my order. They only realise that I didn't leave MY hard earned cash, to suplement their income, and at times countless other staff members incomes, and even sometimes the owners dip in aswell, as I am waving goodbye walking out the door. As was the case with a Restaurant in Vancouver not so long ago, when a restaurant owner was on the local news for dipping in to the staff's tip jars. I can't remember the name of THAT restraunt, but I won't forget the story. There are many industries in the workforce that I would happily provide a tip for. Teachers, Nurses, Paramedics, Surgeons, airport staff and so many others. But I won't EVER tip my server, not even my hairstylist either.

I couldn't read the whole post because it's one long paragraph.
I did get far enough to determine that you're a cheap cunt. I wouldn't eat at the same place twice if I were you, but I hope you're as stupid as you appear and therefore don't take that advice.
You did kinda make one good point about owners skimming tips, but your solution is even worse for the servers than the problem.

I understand not leaving your hard earned cash but both Servers and Hairstylist work hard despite of your opinions.
Have you ever watched "Waiting" with Ryan Reynolds. You should watch it and think next time what may happen to you next time you eat out at a restaurant.
Cheap Ass!!

I can understand not tipping if the service isn't very good- too many people feel forced to tip anyway because they are afraid of looking cheap. Also, I can see why you would be frustrated with a system that is set-up so that restaurants rely on their wait staff to be tipped so that they don't have to pay proper wages.. But I really don't understand why not tipping at all makes sense? At the end of the day you just look like a giant self-righteous jerk. Serving isn't an easy job. I could never be a server.
Thank goodness I am an over-tipper- it helps make up for people like you out there.

While I wish we could follow the example many countries in Europe set and pay servers enough that tips are not generally required, I don't see that happening anytime soon.
In the meantime consider tipping a required expense for the luxury of not having to get off your fat ass and cook yourself a meal.

good for you not tipping. don't cave into the pressure, brother. you are master of your mind, if you don't want to tip you don't have to. the prices of the food is already expensive enough already as it is, why should you and I have to shell out another 15% or whatever for them simply for doing their damn job?
if they don't make enough without tips then thats their problem. get a different job, idiot

If you're ever lucky enough to take a women out for dinner (which I doubt), you'd better tip... or you'll never see her again. Cheapness is extremely unattractive.
I dislike tipping, but I still do it. Stop being such a cheap ass. Seriously, it's gross.

Tipping is being stupid.
Gentleman Jack does not tip.
I only frequent establishments that pay a living wage, like McDonalds.

If you don't want to tip, don't eat out. In an industry where it is CUSTOMARY to include the tip in the price of the meal, it's not an "extra" expense... it's a non-optional aspect of paying for your dinner.
Otherwise, stop taking seating away from people who'll be tipping your poor server, you asshole. Your servers are probably LOSING money on your bill as they still have to tip out to the bar, support staff, and kitchen regardless of what someone leaves them. You should consider leaving at least (at LEAST, AT LEAST) 10% so the tip-out doesn't come out of their pockets.
Otherwise, be straight up with your server at the beginning of the interaction so they can focus their attention on tables where it will actually reward them and not bother trying to make a good impression on you, or give you a good experience, since it seems you don't deserve one.

Lmfao at the really mature classless angry mob. Wow. The O.P. has many valid points. People are SO presumptuous and REALLY ignorant !.
I have worked as a server and in retail. Guess what THERE WAS A TIP JAR AT THE RETAIL STORES TOO !. My fellow co-workers and employers all had serious entitlement issues.
Tipping is discriminatory and a really sad double standard. Why are some hourly paid minimum wage workers in some industries "valued", by "tipping" more then other hourly paid minimum wage workers who work just as hard or harder and don't receive tips at all ?. QUICKLY WHICH MOUTHPIECE BRAINIAC HAS AN A-N-S-W-E-R ? Anbody ? IT'S absolutely mind blowing and preposterous to me. What a ridiculous contradiction.
MANY of us are trying our best to make ends meet, and at times struggling just barely gettting by.
If I purchse a pre-priced service or product that's the price I am going to pay.
Just for the record I no longer work in retail at my current job I am very proud to say I don't receive tips. I

Servers make less than minimum wage. They work long hours usually without breaks and deal with the grumpiest people - hungry people. When you go to a restaurant, service is not included in your final bill. Sometimes it sucks having to tip but if a server provides me with good service, I always tip 15% on the subtotal of the bill (the total without the taxes added onto it). When people don't tip, like some of my friends for example, I think it's pretty rude and honestly, it embarrasses me. If the service sucks, then by all means, don't tip you're server. But I guess that's just the way I was raised.
