you looked back and smiled.
I was standing at New west station infront of Safeway, talking to some friends. You walked passed us with your friend, and went in to Safeway and when you got in you looked back...

Vistited a local medical clinic last year because of an embarrassingly located cyst and the doctor took it upon himself to probe places I don't even let my boyfriend have access to (to say it politely). Didn't exactly feel like he was examining my problem so much as just causing me major discomfort and humiliation for his own enjoyment, but I just let that go as he was the expert and I wanted so badly to feel better. There was a female assistant in there while this was happening, but I'm not sure if she even knew what he was checking for and if what he was doing was required or not. Since then it's been a recurring problem and I have seen quite a few doctors including a specialist for the exact same issue/location. I have to say, that none of them have had to go to that level of invasive procedure, so it's really got me thinking now. This memory makes me feel SO gross when I think about it and it pops into my head at the strangest of times causing shameful feelings, but I know I will never report it because it seemed like it made sense and all the rules were followed at the time. Now I have a female family doctor so this won't happen again, but I can't help but wonder how many other perverted doctors are out there and if other women have found themselves in this situation as well.

You're not alone...
Seems like other women have definitely been in this situation. I'm really sorry you had to go through this. Here's one woman's story, if you're interested: http://www.xojane.com/it-happened-me/doctor-abuse

People need to know
I can completely relate as I was mentally and physically abused by a supposed medical professional ( who was hired by a MAJOR insurance company) to examine me years ago. This person asked me if I had brought any recording devices with me and I of course said no. He proceeded to verbally intimidate and threaten me. And when I reported the abuse my very own lawyer, wanting to avoid further conflict, he agreed to a request to proceed with another physical examination. He told them he hadn't completed his report. He brought his receptionist in as a witness , not another medical professional. I was very ill from my injury back then, more vulnerable, and traumatized far beyond what anyone could ever fathom - so I didn't need this on top of everything else. I can relate to your story O.P. on so many levels . There are many fantastic and competent medical professionals out there but unfortunately some REALLY evil predators as well. Take care :)

I can relate
I had to see a specialist because I can a very serious health concern. He took it upon himself to explore a region not related to his area of expertise. I was disgusted and shocked .You are not alone O.P.

I had once been to the doctor for a sore on my arm. It turned out to be ringworm (gross) and I even mentioned my suspicion of this to the male doctor at the time. He ignored me and said it was most likely a tick bite which he gave me meds for (ultimately at least this was a good precautionary prescription) but he then asked me to lift my shirt and probed with his stethoscope. I asked if this was necessary given it was a rash on my arm and he said not to question him. A week later still no change to my arm I went to a female doctor. She took a swab of my sore came back in 5 minutes and said I had ringworm. I never told her about my experience with the male doctor. looking back i wish I had. Sorry to hear about your awful experience. I'm glad you found a better doctor.

BC riiddled with bad docs
You may want to investigate Bartonella as the cause of your cysts. I went throught the same thing. // std clinic/ bad skin docs/ specialists. Got nowhere. I was rebutted by a tick and got sicker with more cyst like issues. Bartonella has many symptoms and cysts are a big one. Start googling. :-)

BTW
You might want to consider making an official complaint. It is relatively easy and instead of writing your distain in the local paper- consider helping improve that doctors skills and bedside manner. Do no harm is the oath they take. You have every right to speak out if uncomfortable. There is a system in place for these situations. Take advantage of that. Especially in BCs crumbling embarrassing pathetic health care system.

You're probably wrong
You think he'd risk his career to look up your asshole? With a witness in the room? You really think you're that special? He helped you and now you want to ruin his career because you're squeamish? You're dumb.

I find this a bit of a witch hunt. Its a doctors job to poke and probe - they are doctors! They examine places that may seem unrelated to you but may have biological connections to your symptoms... This just sounds like a bunch of overzealous women with man issues. This type of unwarranted fear is likely scaring the good docs away from the province - who needs a load of paranoid female patients accusing a doctor of, my goodness, being probed with a stethoscope!!! THEY'RE DOCTORS. I would highly suggest if you are a woman with this type of unreasonable fear, find yourself a female GP, they only like to prey on the boys so you're in safe hands.

OP
Thanks for the rude and unintelligent comment YPW. I never said I wanted to ruin his career at all. In fact, posting here anonymously, I have said just the opposite. Maybe you're the one who's dumb as it seems you are unable to read an entire post from start to finish. And maybe you should have some respect for people and their issues and keep your comments to yourself if you don't have the mental capacity to read all the way to the end.

hmm
sounds like *** and YPW are defensive doctors. probably male. The stuff these women are talking about does happen and they are taken advantage of because the doctors know they are in a role of trust. give these women some credit. they were there, you weren't.

@hmm, there was a female assistant in the room during the exam. As far as i know it is law (or at least accepted practice) for a doctor to bring in another health professional during this type of exam, just as a witness... but even this doesn't seem to be enough reassurance for some people. I know this type of abuse happens (i imagine very rarely but yes it is very real for the abused person), but this particular instance was witnessed! What else can a doctor do?? I tend to agree with *** last statement - if you're uncomfortable or not sure, go to a female doctor.

Salty One
Had a male friend who was very well endowed that went to see a clinic to see a doctor about a rash on his upper most inner thigh. The doctor was female, and he said she kept staring at his penis and lifting and squeezing it for long periods of time when she looked at his upper thigh. It seemed an unusually long exam (no, no climactic ending). I asked him if he thought there was anything wrong with that and he said he didn't feel like any kind of victim even though there was a trust issue. It's sad reading about what happened to the woman who posted this. But it's also revealing that women are very attuned to what abuse and being violated are.

I think it's great you feel comfortable with a female doctor. But you're implying that it is only male doctors who are pervs. Women can be pervs, or jerks, or both, too.
