I have herpes. And before you get all judgemental on me, just contemplate that I am One in Four. You likely have herpes too and don't even know it. Educate yourself. Most people don't have symptoms but can still pass it on.

Thanks for posting this, OP. I know 4 people--men and women both--who have told me they have herpes. They are awesome normal people who respect themselves and others. In fact, being good, responsible trusting people who were in relationships with a less than honest partners led to their situations. To be thought of as somehow flawed or dirty, which is what they have heard people say about them, is devastating to them. Education is truly key. And people with herpes can be very generous to their partner in other ways when their genitals are temporarily off limits.

I have it too and I even used a condom and still contracted it from a lover that had no clue he had it because he didn't get symptoms. I actually read one study that postulated that everyone on the planet carries a form of the herpes virus but in most people it's a dormant version. Lucky us who ran into the active strains... XP I really hate the awkward conversation I now have to have with new lovers and am still trying to find good ways to navigate that issue.
