I attended the Vancouver Pride Parade on August 5th and must say - Vancouver citizens are by far the RUDEST I have ever had the displeasure to come across. Not only did they poke and jab at me during the parade, they insisted on pushing me, pulling me, and in some cases spitting at me! I was appauled by the lack of hospitality Vancouver has at its own event! People - Please - remember! We call Vancouver the 'best place on earth'! False advertising is a crime! It doesn't take much effort to be polite! Drop the finger and remember, if you don't have anything nice to say - Don't say anything at all!

??? Were we at the same event? Even though it was terribly crowded, I only recall seeing happy people, many of them with families.

Wow. I feel sad that you went through this and were treated with such disrespect. I am shocked as I have never heard of or witnessed this type of behavior here. Sorry O.P.
@ Derek Interesting comment . I have nothing against Montreal, I have heard many great things but from my experience with a couple tourists, the disrespect is comparably vile.

I don't believe it.
Either that or it was one or two isolated incidents, which isn't the same thing as branding an entire community

I used to live in Vancouver and on occasion I come back for a visit. Now I completely understand that this is not the city as a whole, but I can totally understand where this comment is coming from. I have been made fun of right behind my back about the clothes I was wearing on the way to a rock concert because they were quirky and not high end fashion. I was dressing for the occasion! Even if I had a garbage bag on, who are they to comment about MY clothes? On other visits I was treated very rudely by many servers in different restaurants. Acting like they just didn't have the time to take my order or be nice for 5 seconds. I am not a rude person and even in these situations, I still use my manners and smile. It's just the tip that ends up lacking. Still it's not the entire city or all the people. I've had many wonderful experiences in the city as well. Sorry to hear that you had such a bad time at Pride. That's a shame.
