Win a mini-festival pack to the 25th anniversary season of the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival
Two of Spain's flamenco all-stars, Andrés Peña and Pilar Ogalla Company, celebrate the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival’s 25th anniversary season with the Vancouver premiere of Cadiz de la Frontera at the Playhouse Theatre on September 19.
Partners in life and in dance, the sizzling Andrés Peña alongside Pilar Ogalla will leave audiences breathless with their rapid-fire footwork, flawless synchronization and impassioned duende in a dazzling co-choreographed tribute to each of their roots—the flamenco capitals of Jerez and Cadiz.
Then on September 26, join award-winning Flamenco Rosario in the impassioned retrospective Fast-Forward Rewind at the Waterfront Theatre. Led by the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival co-founder, dancer, and choreographer Rosario Ancer, the award-winning company takes audiences on a sensuous journey revisiting their most acclaimed repertoire of the past 25 monumental years starting with the first ever work from 1997 Raices (Flamenco Roots).
The evening then weaves through a story of self-discovery in Mis Hermanas (2008) to 2013’s moving La Monarca, inspired by Ancer’s own creative transformation, and concludes with the intimate and personal Quadrilogue Affective (2015), a glimpse into Ancer and Victor Kolstee’s powerful artistic and domestic partnership.
