Steam Whistle UNSIGNED is an ongoing concert series that showcases Canada’s indie music talent, while also developing its future. UNSIGNED has to date featured over 70 independent Canadian acts and have raised over $70,000 for local artists. To bring these events together, Steam Whistle teams up with Pandor Productions, Now Magazine, and Gibson Guitars.

On May 28, our Vancouver edition of Steam Whistle Unsigned blows the lid off the Cobalt with bands the High Ends, ACTORS, and Blank Cinema. Admission is $5 with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Music B.C.

High Ends is a solo project of Yukon Blonde’s Jeffery Innes. Lauded by Pitchfork for “tapping into a bygone era of retro-futurism… akin to American weirdos of various unseemliness from Ariel Pink to Jim James.”

ACTORS are a smooth night drive on a downtown viaduct; anesthetizing and brimming with kinetic energy. With warm keyboard pads and high frequency bass lines, listeners fall in love immediately with a sound that’s both aggressive and creamy.

Blank Cinema is a loosely organized punk cacophony or euphoria inducing synth pop textures. The canvas is yours, the movie theirs, come one, come all to the movie in their minds.
