Win tickets to Beijing People's Art Theatre's signature masterpiece: Lao She's Teahouse

Enter to win tickets to Beijing People’s Art Theatre’s signature production, Lao She’s Teahouse, presented by the Canada-China Cultural Development Association on November 10 and 11 at The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts.

This significant staging from one of China’s foremost national theatre companies marks 30-years since its presentation at the Expo 86 World Festival.

An epic drama of political turmoil and social upheaval, the play follows 50-years of turbulent history – from the fall of the Qing Empire in 1898 to the defeat of the Kuomingtang in 1948 – as witnessed within the walls of a Beijing teahouse. Following the seismic shifts that reshaped China in the first half of the 20th century, Teahouse is a masterpiece of sweeping societal change played out on an intensely human scale.

The work is written by celebrated Chinese Playwright Lao She, distinguished as one of the most significant figures of 20th century Chinese literature, and features a number of Chinese cinema's biggest and brightest stars, including Liang Guanhua, Pu Cunxin, and Yang Lixin.

Teahouse is performed in Mandarin with English Surtitles.
