Presented by New Works Dance Allsorts is Vancouver’s most dynamic and inspiring performance and workshop series. Currently in its 17th season, Dance Allsorts introduces all sorts of dance to all sorts of people. The May edition of Dance Allsorts features Hip Hop collective Project Soul.

Through the lens of street dance, Project Soul explores the many ways that words affect society. The group explores the breakdown of communication from speaking different languages, the feeling of being boxed in by society’s rules and expectations, the word femininity, as well as the use of words in disagreements and how they can lead to destructive behaviour.

The Power of Words, introduces Project Soul’s newest talent, Rupert Common, a spoken word artist and Emcee who has taken Vancouver by storm. The ensemble mixes the dynamic art of freestyle dance with creative, choreographed movement.

Project Soul is a crew that comes together to spread the love of street dance. Each dancer specializes in a specific street style, fusing these approaches together and elevating underground culture to a more accessible platform.
