Win tickets to Project Soul: Into the Tao

On June 3rd, 2016 New Performance Works Society will present Into the Tao, the latest work by Kim Sato and Project Soul, at The Annex, 823 Seymour Street, in Vancouver, as part of the series New Works @ Night.

Into the Tao features ten artists from the street dance collective Project Soul, with live performances by Japanese Taiko drummer Naomi Kajiwara, from Uzume Taiko and DJ Eric Cardeno (Wonderkut).

The choreographic work is a journey into a street dancer’s emotions during various stages of a dance battle; anticipation, conflicting internal dialogues, and the release, surrender, and acceptance once all is over, and it showcases the talents of Vancouver’s most renowned and highly skilled street dancers. This entertaining and poignant work represents the next chapter for Project Soul.

Into the Tao, as Kim Sato explains, “a passion project brought to life”. The audience, she continues “will be taken on an exhilarating journey of music and dance. We hope that they will leave the theatre feeling more connected to the experiences a freestyle dancer goes through and see street dance as an inspiring art form”.

Don’t miss your chance to witness these incredible dancers as they imaginatively push themselves outside their physical and creative boundaries. And as a bonus, audience members will get to experience a short opening performance by members of the response's 2016 Apprentice Program.
