Win tickets to see Next Music from Tokyo at the Biltmore Cabaret plus a CD

Japanese culture is ubiquitous in major cities across Canada with its popularity apparent in areas such as food/cuisine, fashion, video games, and technology. But Japanese music gets little to no recognition at all. Which is unfortunate since Tokyo secretly harbours the most exciting music scene in the world.

The Japanese are meticulous, inventive and dedicated to becoming the best at whatever they do. They bust their asses honing their craft just like Jiro did dreaming of sushi. And their approach to music and live performance is no different.

Next Music from Tokyo (NMFT) is an annually recurring tour that introduces Canadians to the most skilled and creative bands from Japan’s indie and underground music scene. No mainstream fluff. No weird and wacky performances with plenty of style but little substance. Just infectious, intelligent, and fiercely original music played with a ton of passion and energy.

NMFT Vol. 7 features OWARIKARA, mothercoat, otori, PENs+ and Atlantis Airport. The Vancouver show is held June 17 at the Biltmore Cabaret. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Music starts at 7:30 p.m. For more details and information on bands please visit nextmusicfromtokyo.com.
