Win tickets to Slightly Stoopid

The Georgia Straight presents Slightly Stoopid at the Commodore Ballroom on January 23

Still riding high on the success of their latest album, Top of the World, Slightly Stoopid has announced it will head back on the road to heat up stages at intimate venues across the Western U.S. in January 2013 with their Top of the World Winter Tour.  Fresh off a series of fall headlining dates on the East Coast, the band will kick off its next adventure in Albuquerque, bringing their kaleidoscopic sound throughout the U.S. Southwest and West Coast as well as Canada.

Slightly Stoopid recently unveiled the video for their latest album’s title track, starring comedian/actor/cult hero Tommy Chong.  Released in August, Top of the World is the band’s seventh studio album, and it entered the Billboard 200 at No. 13, Billboard’s Independent Albums chart at No. 3, and the Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts at a peak position of No. 4.  Guests on the record include G. Love, Angelo Moore (Fishbone), Barrington Levy, Don Carlos, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5) and more.  Relix raved that Top of the World is "their most ambitious work yet."

NPR Music states, “If you like your hemp grown close to the beach, this is your soundtrack,” while Yahoo! Music simply calls Top of the World “a sonic knockout…” Top of the World was released on the band’s Stoopid Records, on which they have already sold nearly one million copies. The band’s previous releases include Slightly Not Stoned Enough To Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid (a compilation of B-sides and new material); Chronchitis (which debuted in the Billboard 100 and hit #2 on the indie charts); Closer To The Sun, Winter Tour '05-'06; their first-ever DVD, Live in San Diego; Everything You Need (selling more than 250,000 copies); The group launched Stoopid Records with 2001’s Acoustic Roots: Live and Direct. Their successful debut and follow-up (Slightly Stoopid and The Longest Barrel Ride) were released in 1996 and 1998 on Skunk Records.
