Win tickets to Tapestry International Festival of Womens' Choirs gala concert

Experience firsthand the power of 120 combined voices, Elektra, and its three guest choirs, as we present the Tapestry International Gala Concert, the culmination of four days of rehearsal and collaboration with the music of Joan Szymko, Franz Schubert, Christine Donkin, Frode Fjellheim, and David MacIntyre.

The May 2 performance also includes the singers of Elektra’s Mira Youth Mentorship program. The Norwegian choir, Cantus, is an award-winning women's choir from Norway conducted by Tove Ramlo-Ystad.

The ensemble has become particularly renowned for their performance on the soundtrack of the Disney megahit, Frozen. While not to be confused with the movie's famous theme song, movie fans of all ages may recognize the gutsy choral sound featured at the opening of the movie that pairs traditional Sami singing with a familiar melody.

This is Eatnemen Vuelie by living Norwegian composer Frode Fjellheim. Also on this program, Elektra will perform the world premiere of Valkyrie by Vancouver composer Kristopher Fulton featuring saxophonist Julia Nolan.
