The NSDRC is pleased to announce Brent Butt: Live with special guests, The Jeff Standfield Band on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Theatre in North Vancouver. 

All proceeds from the show go to the NSDRC’s “Information and Advocacy Program”, which advocates for over 1,400 people a year with disabilities and assists them, and their families, in navigating the many barriers they face for accessing healthcare, housing, employment and financial services.

One of the NSDRC’s newest initiatives is the “Options for Us” project, which is addressing critical issues around housing needs for people with disabilities on the North Shore. With a maximum housing allowance of only $375/month, North Shore residents receiving disability benefits are being hit especially hard by our current housing affordability crisis and Metro Vancouver’s lowest vacancy rates (0.9%).

The Options for Us project is consulting with various stakeholders, including people with disabilities and other service providers, to develop an action plan to reduce barriers to affordable and accessible housing services for people with disabilities.

Brent Butt is an award-winning Canadian actor, comedian, and writer. He is best known for his role as Brent Leroy on the CTV sitcom Corner Gas, which he also created. The series was an instant hit from its debut in 2004 until its final season in 2009.

The NSDRC serves North and West Vancouver since 1976. It is a registered charity and the only North Shore organization that serves people of any age with any type of disability. The NSDRC provides programs and services to over 1800 children, youth and adults with disabilities, their families, friends and support networks on the North Shore.
