Eat for a good cause at the Gastown BBQ and Chili Festival
The second annual Gastown BBQ and Chili Festival takes place this weekend (August 31 and September 1), and there will be meat. Ribs, wings, brisket, and more will be served up to eager tasters; tasting tokens are four for $10 or 10 for $20. Picnic tables, barbecues, music stages, and more will line Carrall Street, where the party will stretch from West Cordova Street to Water Street. Highlights include a wing-eating contest, a craft-beer tasting tent, and a Sunday pig roast and luau at the Blarney Stone (216 Carrall Street). The festival is a fundraiser for Athletics 4 Kids, a charity that supports youth participation in amateur sports. For info, see the Blarney Stone website.
