Deep fried pickles and burgers get a beautiful backdrop at the Tap & Barrel
The new Tap & Barrel has such a phenomenally scenic patio near the Olympic cauldron on Jack Poole Plaza (1055 Canada Place) that it’s a pity the rains have arrived. But even in inclement weather, you can gaze over the water in the quiet section of the restaurant that lies steps from its main entrance. Not sure about ordering the deep-fried pickles ($5)? You’ll get a deep-fried slice with the Tavern burger ($14); try it and you’ll be a convert, as it’s crispy and not overly acidic. The burger’s delicious too, topped with Cheddar and caramelized onions. For two bucks more, why not lay on some juicy roasted pork belly? Hey, swimsuit season is over.
