There's a new restaurant on Davie Street, owned by chef Curtis “Lips” Demyon.

Lips Resto opened in May at 1143 Davie, between Bute and Thurlow. The 100-seat restaurant focuses on dishes meant for sharing, such as lingcod with sea asparagus, buttermilk-fried Fanny Bay oysters, and grilled Moroccan chicken thighs.

Seafood makes up a good part of the menu; until March, Demyon was the executive chef at the Fish House in Stanley Park. (The landmark restaurant is slated to close on September 30 when the company's lease expires.)

Dinner plates range from $9 for wild mushroom and quinoa fritters to $37 for a dry-aged strip loin. Other dishes include elk tartare, smoked black cod, and a house-smoked Cheddar burger.
