Call it art you can eat.

PiDGiN has teamed up with local artist Ola Volo to create a specially plated dish and five limited-edition illustrations that will be sold at the restaurant beginning on Friday (November 20).

The dish is a reimagining of Chef Shin Suzuki’s grilled octopus offering, where the seafood is placed atop a swirling mass of eggplant purée that mimics the organic, folklore-inspired shapes in Volo’s art.

Splashes of merguez oil and a selection of garnishes add colour to the high-contrast plate—itself an ode to the artist’s prominent use of black ink.

This is the second collaboration for PiDGiN this month, following a joint dinner in London, U.K. with a restaurant that shares the same name.

Guests are invited to preview the dish and Volo’s original pieces during a launch at PiDGiN (350 Carrall Street) this Friday at 10:30 p.m.

Both the dish and the artist's works will be available at the restaurant until mid-January.
