What’s new in Vancouver’s food scene? To find out, head to Hawkers Market this Saturday (March 29) at East Van Studios (870 East Cordova Street) from 6 p.m. till late.

With the promise of “local food, loud music”, these periodic events connect culinary entrepreneurs with curious food lovers in a laid-back setting. Over a dozen vendors will be selling offerings like wontons, gluten-free pasta, Pakistani biryani, artisan ice-cream sandwiches, Filipino shortbread, and kombucha.

Cocktails and 33 Acres beer keep things upbeat.

Tickets cost $10 plus fees at the Event Brite website; info is at the Hawkers Market website.

      i don't understand

why there's a $10 admission to buy food, the food scene in vancouver is getting ridiculous. i understand there's an operating cost, but that should be expensed by the vendors. you wouldn't pay to enter a restaurant to then pay for dinner. i can't imagine the food here being better than food i can get elsewhere.
