Re-up BBQ's fried chicken is bewitching

If you love fried chicken, you must try Re-up BBQ’s bewitching version. (While the food truck is out of commission, Re-up’s storefront at River Market at Westminster Quay [810 Quayside Drive, New Westminster] is going strong.)

Rubbed with a spice blend that includes garlic, chilies, and Demerara sugar, the mustard-marinated chicken is dredged in free-range eggs; coated in a flour, potato-starch, and rice-starch blend; and fried in rice-bran oil.

The result? Juicy, light, and crispy chicken that’s intriguingly sweet and hot; it’s even better with Re-up’s addictive honey barbecue sauce.

On Fridays from 4 to 6 p.m., a 10-piece bucket that’s regularly $29 goes for $20, including four biscuits and coleslaw. Call ahead to order at 604-553-3997.
