Taking place February 20 to 28, the 38th annual Vancouver International Wine Festival begins with the Bacchanalia Gala Dinner and Auction, where attendees can nab some of the rarest vintage wines B.C. has ever seen.

Among the wines available will be a $7,000 magnum of 1949 Château Haut-Brion, a revered vintage that was most memorably served during the Dame Nellie Melba dinner scene on Downton Abbey; a $10,000 1906 Château Latour, considered one of the rarest and most famous wines in the world; and the 2000 Bordeaux Collection, a “millennium” vintage of four wines valued at $10,750.

The auction will include wines from a number of first-growth properties in Bordeaux, such as Mouton Rothschild, Lafite, and Margaux, as well as others from this year’s festival theme country, Italy.

The gala also features a five-course wine and food pairing dinner, crafted by Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s executive chef, Cameron Ballendine, which will feature ten incredible wines from around the world.

The Bacchanalia Gala Dinner and Auction takes place on February 20 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver (900 West Georgia Street).

Tickets start at $450. For more information, including details on how to purchase tickets, click here
