To celebrate the fast-approaching Year of the Monkey, Okanagan Crush Pad has released special limited edition Haywire wines for the Lunar New Year.

The Lunar White ($18.90) combines Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay with small amounts of Pinot Gris and Viognier. It's recommended for pairing with steamed seafood, seafood soup, fried noodles or rice.

The Lunar Red ($19.90) is made from Gamay Noir and Syrah. This one is recommended for pairing with stir-fried vegetables, grilled sable fish, or barbecue duck.

This year, only 60 cases have been made of the wines so get them while they last.

You can order it online or purchase it at Lower Mainland stores such as Sutton Place Wine Merchants, Marquis Wine Cellars, 1st Avenue Liquor Store, Libations Dundarave (West Vancouver), and Richmond Liquor Store.

Okanagan Crush Pad, you may remember, are the folks behind Vij's Bolly Water, a small batch, London Dry–style gin, used in Vij's new signature cocktail, 11th Avenue Mule.

To truly get into the spirit of things, the winery will also be celebrating the Lunar New Year on Saturday (February 6) in Summerland.

Someone at Okanagan Crush Pad is certainly capturing the spirit of the Year of the Monkey...
