Toronto-based gourmet burger joint Big Smoke Burger has opened the doors to its second location in the Lower Mainland.

Located on Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby campus (8901 University High Street, Cornerstone Mews), the new spot follows the opening of the chain's first Vancouver storefront at 500 West Broadway.

Unique to the SFU location are exclusive menu items like the Good Morning breakfast sandwich (free-range local eggs, smoked Canadian cheddar, and AAA locally sourced beef), a rotating selection of Cartems Donuts, and local craft beer. Big Smoke favourites like the lamb burger, comprised of fresh lamb, cilantro-feta spread, lettuce, and tomato, and the grilled-to-order AAA Canadian beef burger, will also be available.

“We wanted to offer menu items that would be exclusive to SFU,” said Haley Grewal, Big Smoke Burger franchisee, in a press statement. "With the incorporation of local breweries and Cartems Donuts, we aim to appeal to the needs and wants of students.”

The burger franchise is known for using fresh and locally sourced ingredients, and all of the joint's sides and sauces are made in-house.

Big Smoke Burger also has locations in Toronto, Ottawa, Denver, New York City, and the Middle East.
