Aburi Restaurants Canada, which owns upscale Japanese dining establishments Miku and Minami, is expanding its portfolio. Gyoza Bar + Ramen (622 West Pender Street) is scheduled to open in Vancouver’s downtown business district this summer.

The restaurant will specialize in teppan-style gyoza, which uses an iron griddle to cook the Japanese dumplings. Gyoza Bar will also offer a unique type of handmade ramen with tomato-saffron seafood broth, as well as sandwiches, modern Japanese tapas, and desserts. Wine, sake, and beer will be available on-tap.

“As a restaurateur, I always want to either create or reinvent new ways of enjoying food, and Vancouver is certainly the city to do it. We hope people will enjoy our distinct vision for gyoza and ramen,” Seigo Nakamura, president and CEO of Aburi Restaurants Canada, stated in a news release.

The 80-seat, 2,600 square-feet restaurant will be managed by Nicola Turner. Aburi Restaurants Canada corporate chef Kazuya Matsuoka and Gyoza Bar + Ramen chef de cuisine Michael Acero are developing the menu.
