If you find yourself near Main and Terminal, there’s a new place to grab a quick meal. Kobob Burger (1019 Main Street) is a stylish takeout joint with a few counter seats and a short chalkboard menu of Korean fare.

Options include spicy ramyeon soup, bibimbap rice bowls, and rice burgers.

The burgers ($5 to $6) feature a choice of protein such as marinated pork (bulgogi ), chicken, or tuna sandwiched between two pressed-rice patties and topped with lettuce and corn kernels. They’re fun to eat, and the small business makes everything fresh and with care.

See Kobob’s Facebook page for hours.

i've been there twice now, i had the spicy pork burger the first time. Flavour of the pork is good but they really need to invest in a meat slicer as the meat is cut too thick by hand, made the meat really tough. The rice buns are too mushy, the burger does not hold it's shape well and is more of a novelty idea. I had the bibimbob the 2nd time, added pork, same rice as the buns so it was quite mushy, fried egg was super greasy. It was very filling both times. It has potential, but I wouldn't go out of way to get there.

I didn't find the meat particularly tough, but it's a slightly thicker cut common with a lot of Korean pork dishes. They're really meant to be unwrapped slowly from the foil while you're eating so it doesn't fall apart. Rice is mushy but sticks together better that way. I was a little disappointed that it's not a full-on rice burger with a grilled rice bun that's a little crispy on the outside, like how they do at Mos Burger in Japan. In its current form, it's more of a rice bowl served in a handheld burger form.
